MYOB is retiring the MYOB Exo Payroll Suite

MYOB is retiring the MYOB Exo Payroll Suite in NZ and Australia by the end of November 2025 (note this will not affect MYOB Exo Business). If you currently use Exo Payroll, you’ll need to replace this with another system before November 2025.

You have plenty of time to prepare, choose the right software, and migrate before this date.

Our Recommendation

Allow yourself plenty of time to explore options and do your research to find the best fit for your business.

We would recommend allowing 2-3 months for the migration process and a good time would be between July and November 2024. This will ensure all historical data is transferred correctly to the new system and you can be up and running with no speed bumps.

Opportunities

Payroll software can be robust and tech advancements are happening all the time. Cloud based systems such as PayHero or iPayroll offer great functionality and a user-friendly experience for both employers and employees and they integrate with XERO!

Employers will appreciate the automation features in these software systems, making onboarding less time-consuming and real-time insights in the dashboard.

Employees will have the basics made easy - applying for leave, checking leave balances, access to payslips and more.

Next steps

Begin your research so you have some options well ahead of the end-of-life date.   This is an opportunity to reflect on your business processes that intersect with payroll processing.  You might need something with a roster app, time clocks, time sheeting apps, HR system integrations, shift swap options.  These all have automatic leave application request and approval automation to consider too.
